The Story Behind the Card
On November 1, 1994, Jordan's #23 jersey was retired by the Bulls and raised to the rafters at the United Center. Having ended his brief retirement, MJ returned to Chicago on March 19, 1995 wearing #45 — the number he wore in baseball — and scored 19 points against the Indiana Pacers. The basketball world stopped to watch.
Fun Fact
🏀 Jordan wore #45 for only a handful of games before switching back to #23 mid-playoffs in 1995. The NBA actually fined the Bulls $25,000 per game for allowing him to wear #23 before the league officially reactivated the number — and the Bulls paid every fine without hesitation.
